Diode vs Alexandrite: Which Laser Converts More Med Spa Leads

We analyze how choosing between Diode and Alexandrite lasers affects your med spa's conversion rates, patient comfort, and long-term profitability.

By Joseph Coram

We often see owners debating between Diode and Alexandrite platforms based solely on technical specs, but we look at it through the lens of consultation conversion. Alexandrite lasers, typically operating at a 755nm wavelength, remain the gold standard for lighter skin tones due to their high melanin absorption, which often results in faster visible clearance that builds immediate patient trust. However, we find that Diode systems, particularly those with integrated cooling, often convert better for high-volume clinics because they allow us to treat a broader range of Fitzpatrick skin types safely. While the Alexandrite might offer that initial wow factor for fair-skinned clients, the versatility of a 810nm Diode reduces the number of turned-away leads. We recommend evaluating your local demographic data before committing to one, as the right choice depends entirely on whether your patient base requires the aggressive precision of an Alex or the inclusive safety profile of a Diode.
