Polynucleotides: The Shift from Volume to Tissue Regeneration

We are moving away from traditional fillers toward polynucleotides, utilizing salmon DNA to trigger genuine cellular repair and collagen production.

By Joseph Coram

We are seeing a significant shift in patient demand as the market moves away from the overfilled look toward true tissue biostimulation. At our clinics, we are increasingly positioning polynucleotides—derived from purified salmon DNA—as the preferred alternative to traditional hyaluronic acid fillers for the periorbital area. Unlike fillers that simply provide a temporary mechanical lift by holding water, these injectable DNA fragments work by stimulating fibroblasts and increasing the production of type one collagen. We have found that this approach offers a more sustainable business model because it focuses on long-term skin health rather than quick volumetric fixes. When we integrate these boosters into our treatment plans, we notice higher patient retention rates because the results look natural and improve over time. We must train our injectors to explain that while the visible change is slower than filler, the structural integrity of the dermis is being fundamentally repaired at a cellular level.
